The UCAT

All Medicine applicants must take the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) and register in advance. Cambridge says that for A100 it looks at an applicant's overall cognitive subtest score, that it will not use the situational judgement score for 2027 entry, that UCAT results are used in selection for interview and may be used when making offers, and that there is no minimum UCAT score threshold. Cambridge assesses applicants through a mixture of academic record, UCAT and interviews. UCAT's own site says registration and booking for the UCAT 2026 is now closed; the booking deadline was 16 September 2026 (15:00 UK time) and it makes no exceptions to this deadline.

Who can apply

Cambridge says you can't apply to this course if you will not be 18 years old on 1 November of year 1 (national restrictions), or if you have failed or been excluded from another medical school. Cambridge strongly recommends getting work experience, paid or voluntary, in a health or social care organisation, and points applicants to the Medical Schools Council work experience guide and its Key Criteria for Medical Admissions. You won't need to submit any written work before your interview. If you get an offer, extra checks can include a criminal record check (in the UK, a DBS check).

Applicant numbers

Cambridge's course page gives these figures: 22 overseas fee status places, and for the 2025 cycle 6 applications per place and 270 accepted.
